New year, New Falling Up

To start off this new year, I decided to add a new layout. My old one of the German castle stopped showing the image, so i decided it was time for a new one. This new layout features a peacock. It’s more of an inside joke than anything else because my friends and I make jokes about peacocks. My two friends pretend to be obsessed with them because during prom season last May, my friend and I found the ugliest peacock dress. We took a picture of it on her phone and sent it to her date (who was our other friend). Let’s just say he pretended to like the dress and when we finally told him it was not the dress, he was relieved. Now we go around finding peacock stuff everywhere. To symbolize even more about peacocks. This was taking when I went to Grounds for Sculpture which is an outdoor art sculpture place. (If you are an artist and live in the tri-state area, I highly recommend it). I went with my ex boyfriend at the time and we saw peacocks roaming around. It reminded me of my two friends. It was a wonderful day with a lot of peacocks around. I just love the colors of the peacocks and to be honest, I had “Artist Block”, so I was just looking through my iPhone for a cool picture. I used Ida’s tutorial on colorization to get the blue. Also this layout took me forever to code. I wanted to use containers, but sadly I do not know how with wordpress. Does anyone know how to use containers with wordpress and have a nice easy tutorial? I’ve been messing around with wordpress all day, so if you seen my site when it was in construction, I apologize.

So I got wordpress as an app on my Iphone, maybe now I’ll blog more and/or give you guys picture updates. Hopefully it’ll persuade me to blog and keep updated. I realized blogging helps me keep calm, or as calm as I’ll ever be. I don’t really care if I become “online famous”. These blogs are just for me and hilarious to read when you are older. I just came across my xanga from like 7-9th grade. I must have been really annoying because all my blog post were so depressing.

Most of you guys probably forgot who I am, or where I am in my life because it has been quite a while since I been blogging. I have blogging spurs but I never forget about my site. Anyway here are 5 random facts.
one: I love art, I am a better drawer than I am at photoshop. Fine Arts is my forte, but photoshop is my hobby. This summer/fall I showed a lot of colleges my portfolio because I plan to have a career in art or at least taking some art classes.
two: One of the reasons why I keep blogging is because I love meeting people. I met one of my best friends Evan on here (4 years ago), so I have hope that I can make other friends just as great.
three: There are over 3,000 kids in my high school and 700 in my graduating class, yet I still stayed best friends with my friends from Elementary School.
four: I am on a college “high”. I love looking up colleges, looking at pictures, visiting colleges and being embraced in the atmosphere. I really can’t wait.
five: I actually like twitter. For the longest time, I was against using that social networking site.

The new layout looks great! :) Peacocks are funny creatures, they’re actually really quire pretty so it’s amusing that you and your friends found an ugly peacock dress. :P The green and brown work well together. :) You use containers with WP the same way you would with a PHP layout, just so you know. Georgie’s tutorial explains quite well: http://heartdrops.org/tutorials/css-centering-your-layout/

I have the WordPress app on my phone too (I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace, though), but it still doesn’t motivate me to blog more, haha. It’s awkward to type a whole blog on my phone.

Didn’t realise you were away for so long! I keep disappearing but it’s usually because I lose interest, heh. Hopefully we both stick around for a while. :P

your new layout looks great! i especially like the wooden background up there! :D and i’m really glad you found my colouring helping! it made me smile!! :D i think the peacock’s feathers are so beautiful with the many different colours! i’m glad it somehow inspired you to make the layout haha!

thank you for the music tips! i have so far only heard “jar of hearts” by christina perry, and i really like it, but i’ll have a listen to the rest of her songs as well! i’m in love with one direction’s music as well though i first discovered their music a few months ago. they still sounds good tohugh, and they’re sooo cute!! :D

ohh i don’t hate one direction, not at all! :D i don’t understand those people who do. and yes, you did suggest the downtown fiction to me once, and i have been listening to them since! :D i love their music, you know it’s really catchy! :D haha i don’t think i got the chance to thank you for ever suggestion me to them, so thank you haha :D

The wordpress iPhone app is seriously a life saver. I find myself constantly typing posts at ridiculous hours of the day thanks to it(ie. 2am) I love meeting people also! Blogging has really opened the doors to many new acquaintances that I wouldn’t have associated with otherwise. I like to hear about people’s different views and beliefs also :] I like the new layout by the way! What are you planning to study in college? :]

i think one direction is pretty popular among teenage girls, but i don’t think they’ve reached out to the older genre yet, though my dad knows who they are because of me playing them all the time haha! :D i actually like justin bieber, i’m waiting for his new album to come soon. i’m not a fan though, and i’m definitely NOT like the screaming and hysterical girls you can see in his film.

no i don’t have spotify. i don’t like it. first, you can only listen to a song 5 times if you’re not paying an amount of money which i don’t have. secondly, and mainly, i never find my music there. the funny thing is, the song i once was looking for, can be heard there several months after i’ve been searching for it, lol! then i like itunes better. i can buy the songs i want and pay when i actually have money, plus they do have a great deal more songs to offer. on the other hand, spotify is nice to use when you’re just checking up on songs, though they don’t always have the artist nor song among their libraries.

I thought you would have checked Georgina’s site already, but gave you the link anyway. xD Google isn’t really helpful for things like that. Good luck, though. :)

The app is good if you’re not on or near a computer so you can just jot down ideas before you forget about them. XD

I’m sorry to hear that. Blogging is great for relaxing and relieving tension, that’s for sure. :B As long as I can keep up with blogging ideas I think I’ll be okay. I don’t really do the whole “returning comments” anymore (like this haha), I just comment on the persons blog which definitely helps and I don’t get so overwhelmed. :P

I really like the colors you used in your layout! The blues and greens all go really well together. And I love the peacock! :)

I think it’s great that you don’t want to become “online famous.” I know that some people create blogs and websites solely for that reason. I feel like they’re the least successful though; people like your website/blog for being realistic and down to earth. They can relate in that way.

I have been blogging for probably four years now, but I deleted all my older sites so I can’t look back on them. I wish I could, just because I can’t imagine the stuff that I would talk about. xD

    Anywho, glad you’re back! <3

A search engine for web-designers would be great, haha. Yeah, I guess you just have to stay persistent and keep trying; you’ll get there in the end. :)

To be honest, the whole blogging community has changed quite a lot and hardly anyone “returns” comments anymore because it does seem a little pointless keep repeating yourself and what not. Plus, it saves a lot of time. I don’t get no where near as many comments as I used to haha, but I’m happy with the amount I get. :) Georgina and I used to write each other comments that were over 1000 words long which took forever to return, and I used to do that with a few others too! It was very overwhelming, that’s for sure. :P

Your awesome layout making skills are always awesome :D ! I think peacocks are awesome- I was mindblown when I was told that the ones with big feathers are males :O! It’s something odd XD! That’s one nice prank you and your friend pulled off to her prom date :P !

I know there’s probably tutorials on how to use containers all over youtube. But you just gotta look for the one you want.

Hopefully with that iPhone app, you’ll be blogging more and more :P ! I even read my old posts from 9th grade and laugh at them XD. I was just.. Wow. A weirdo.

You seem excited about college! As for me, I don’t know where I want to go to even though I applied. I want to stay as close as possible to LA. D:

You’re lucky for playing bassoon :O! I want to touch one and try it out. D: But my school’s too poor to afford them. And plus before, we focused more on marching than on concert D:

    Take care ;D

spotify is just an online radio where you can listen to all the music you want? COOL! :D well, in norway you can sign up and listen to music, but you can only listen to a song 5 times a day (or week) and there’s loads of commercials inbetween the songs you’re listening to. in additional they don’t have the music i like to listen to ;S they don’t have all time low for an example, though i don’t know whether they still are ignorant to good music as i haven’t been on there since i found out how idiotic it was haha! :D

not all of the songs i like are neither available in the norwegian itunes store, but then i usually just listen on youtube instead until it comes out :D

  11. ida on January 17, 2012 9:47 am

spotify has been popular among teenagers for a long time now. i think it was launched back in 2007 or 2008, so it’s been here a pretty long time now! haha it still hasn’t convinced me! what’s pandora? :D i don’t think i’ve heard of that one before.

  12. Vicky on January 17, 2012 11:29 am

Cause I’d feel bad ignoring you. :P Your comments aren’t huge anyway so it doesn’t take long to return! Everything has changed, it’s quite weird really. I remember the days where I used to get 100+ comments per post. XD

The long comments do make you feel better sometimes, but other times, it’s just overwhelming, haha.

  13. Bonnie on January 17, 2012 3:39 pm

Hey Tiff! I’m not a big fan of animals, but peacocks are really pretty haha. I would imagine my friends and I to make jokes about a peacock dress as well haha :P
Theres a WordPress app? (slow…) I should get on that, maybe I’ll blog more that way too.
I had a lot of fun researching on collages too! but TAKE YOUR TIME IN HS, YOU’LL MISS IT :)

  14. Georgina on January 19, 2012 8:04 am

The peacock is really nice. :3 I remember taking a photo of one at the zoo and it was lovely! I can imagine a peacock dressing being a bit over-the-top and not so elegant, though. :P Some patterns just don’t go well on dresses.

Containers are really easy… and I’m sure you just mean a block sort of layout? You just have to add it in and code it in the CSS in WordPress. It’s really not that hard. x) I like the WordPress app but I only use it to read comments. I never actually blog on it, I find that it will completely mess up how I want my post to look, especially if I’m posting pictures. Haha.

I was against Facebook since 2005 (back then I was like ‘what the heck?’ and I still think it’s ridiculous. Twitter is way better though. ;)

I hope you find a good college to go to! ^_^ Take your time, it’s never too early to look into it though.

Oh, rompers – we call them jumpsuits. I thought they were cute but they look ridiculous anyway. I’ve seen tight fitting ones but they still look kind of ugly. Certainly not into that kind of thing, and I definitely don’t follow trends either.
